A Note Before Departure
He has somewhere to be, but not quite yet.
Set in a sun-soaked world of Palm Springs visitors, long afternoons and temporary stays, A Note Before Departure catches a man in the middle of writing something before the moment moves on. Paper airplanes drift through the scene while conversations continue behind him, leaving the destination—and the message—unexplained.
Layered color, graphite crosshatching and flashes of fluorescent pigment give the painting a surface that shifts with the light, balancing the composure of the figure with something more unpredictable underneath.
A scene from a film that never existed, suspended somewhere between arrival and leaving.
