‘Your Long Afternoon‘

I paint people becoming more of themselves, so they stop hiding.

There comes a point where you stop trying to have an interesting life and simply begin enjoying your own.

You stop worrying about whether you’re dressed right, saying the right thing, or keeping up with everyone else.

You discover that a Tuesday afternoon by the pool can feel richer than a room full of people.

That’s the moment this painting reminds me of.

Not youth.

Not vacation.

Freedom from needing anything outside yourself to make the day enough.

Maybe that’s what growing into yourself looks like.

A long afternoon that doesn’t need to become anything else.
