Oil Painting - "What Are You Searching For?”

Original Oil Painting | 12 × 12 inches

What Are You Searching For?

A woman sits before an old television, absorbed in whatever is happening beyond the glass. But the real subject of the painting is not what she’s watching. It’s the question underneath it: How often do we look outside ourselves for clues about who we’re supposed to be?

Before phones, social media, and endless scrolling, there was television—another glowing screen filled with other people’s lives, ideas, desires, and definitions of success. What Are You Searching For? plays with that familiar impulse to look outward for answers that may already exist within us.

The painting is about identity, influence, and remembering your own internal compass. Everyone on the other side of the screen is simply being someone else. At some point, becoming more fully yourself requires turning away from all that external noise and listening for what you already know.

Bright, nostalgic color gives the piece a playful surface, while the question underneath is much more personal: What are you searching for—and is that really where you’ll find it?
