Oil Painting - "Becoming Close-Up No. 01”

Becoming Close-Up No. 01 is the first painting in Karen Jones’ Becoming Close-Ups series — a collection of intimate portraits focused on the emotional moment when someone begins stepping more fully into themselves.

Painted in oil with layered desert-inspired colors, the portrait places the figure against a soft Palm Desert color wall so the expression and gaze carry the entire painting. The composition is intentionally close and personal, allowing the viewer to feel the presence of the subject rather than simply observe it.
